photo diary 21.5.2011: ruins of Stonehenge

the ruins of Stonehenge

To me this place didn’t felt vary mystical. As I had been visiting the stone megalithic dolmen St Lythans View weeks ago I spend a couple of hours with those stones and no body ells showed up. It felt like a Geological interesting place. Stonehenge on the other side could have been easily on of the big Londoner Tourist attractions, considering the amount of tourists. May it’s because having to paying entrance fee, the constraint of only one hour at the place or the fact that I couldn’t actually get in the stone circle or touch the because a fans keeps the visitors meters away from the actual ruins of Stonehenge all those taken into account this place still felt somehow death to me. Under consideration of its importance it really a pity that it became such a Tourist place. Stonehenge condition deteriorates its self due to having 2 roads with high traffic volume close by. A survey on the condition World Heritage Sites ranks Stonehenge at 75th place and declaring it as “in moderate trouble”.
